Speck! I had my first prenatal appointment today. After a family trip to Bangor, Matt stayed out in the waiting room with the kids (they loved the toys, books and fish tank) while I talked to the midwife about all the standard stuff.
Her first question was "What are you doing here? Your last two were born at home? So why are you with us now?" To which I said "Can I have my epidural now?". After 3 natural child births, two of which were at home, I decided that since we now have awesome insurance, it's time to give birth the way that nature intended it. In a sterile environment with lots and LOTS of drugs (just making sure you are paying attention, Heather :)
It was a good checkup and we were pleased to find out that we could get an ultrasound. Speck is doing fine and has a nice strong heart. It's still too early to know if it's a boy Speck or a girl Speck, but that's ok. We're just happy it's a Speck. And he's WIGGLY!

Seeing the baby for the first time always makes the pregnancy real for me...besides the feeling sick part. Yay!
Also yay for Matt and your family...although having your family move away is not yay for us!

Epidurals ROCK. I remember giggling with Tanner's after I suffered through, holding off as "long as possible". I made it quite a ways with your nifty, well practiced breathing techniques. Once I got the epidural I giggled and said "what was I thinking?" I hope YOUR epidural works like mine did for Tanner.... and not the way it (didn't) worked for Kinley...
With Eden I also chose to have an epidural after having the first three natural (although not at home). It was great! Go for it!
Congrats Courtney! I have not yet dared cross the divide from three to four...let me know how it goes!
Oh, and I have to add, water makes me super sick when I am pregnant too. Dan always seems skeptical of this, but it's true. Not that I am happy you are suffering, but I am glad I am not the only one :)
